I specialize in fun, relaxed and creative engagement, family, vacation, maternity, and couple portrait and event photography in Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand area. Sessions are relaxed and fun, I'm glad to try any ideas and family groupings you desire, and I make sure you are happy before the session is complete.
My Style as a Photographer . . .
What I do is different than a lot of studios. I use a photojournalist style of photography. I'm not just there to take a few posed shots, but I typically take over 100 shots in an hour sitting trying to capture many different poses and to get the best moments and expressions. My favorite shots are those that don't look posed, that look like a family enjoying the beach together. Using this method I can usually get good shots of even the most grumpy kids (or husbands).

As a professional photographer running my own small business local to Myrtle Beach I'm able to offer a level of personal service you won't get from a large corporate studio. My business relies on the reviews, feedback and recommendations of my clients and I always try to do what it takes to make them happy. I've had clients tell me their session was the nicest experience they have had with a photographer, I hope I can make you feel the same way. I think something I specialize in is getting clients to relax and have a good time.
Unique Quality of Finished Product . . .
A reasonable amount of artistic and general touchup Photoshop work and special effects on all prints or albums sides included at no charge. You typically won't see shots in my gallery with shiny faces, drab dark color and other issues you might see on other sites. This is from an understanding of light and flash as well as post processing skill in Photoshop and Lightroom. About My Business . . .
Ryan Smith Photography of Myrtle Beach is a licensed retail business with the state of SC and I carry general liability and indemnity coverage insurance policies as we as being a member of the Professional Photographers of America Association. I offer my services in the entire Grand Strand, SC area. Your precious images are kept safe with multiple redundant backups including a Data Robotics Drobo and off site backup. All Portrait Sessions Include:
- Easy to use online proofing gallery for clients and their family and friends, to see an example click here.
- Unless otherwise stated, prices listed are for my favorite beach location, Myrtle Beach State Park area. I will travel to any location for any type of an event for an additional charge, please see services and sitting fees tab.
- No limit on poses and family groupings or number of photos taken during an event, I'm very flexible.
- Refund of sitting fee if weather does not permit session and we can't reschedule.
- Event photography includes Photo CD of all images, see services and sitting fees tab above.
Please Note: Most photography studios charge high prices for digital Photoshop touchups and enhancement. I will adjust all printed images and do a reasonable amount of requested Photoshop touchups as well.

Sitting Fees and Beach Portrait Information
Myrtle Beach Family, Engagement, or Senior Portraits Sitting - $195 Standard Fee
- Schedule as soon as possible the summer books up quickly.
- Typically I like to schedule the appointment as close to sunset as we can, or at your preferred time.
- Beach photography for families, couples, children, groups, individuals, maternity portraits, etc.
- This price is for my preferred beach location at the Myrtle Beach State Park area, please see Common Questions.
- About an hour on location as needed, candid shots included. Most of the photos on this site are from this type of sitting. There is no limit on family groupings, poses, and candid shots. I'm very flexible.
- Includes photography of entire group as well as individual groupings as desired.
- Up to 12 individuals. 12-15 is an additional $25 charge. Larger groups please request a quote.
- Only weekdays typically are available June, July and August, but you can check with me for availability.
Special On Location, i.e. Atalaya Castle or Your Location - Standard: $230
- This appointment includes everything mentioned in the standard sitting above.
- Special appointment photography at most locations around Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand area. There may be an additional charge depending on distance from Myrtle Beach and group size.
- There are many beautiful spots around Myrtle Beach such as the Atalaya Castle in Huntington State Park Murrells Inlet and the River Walk in Conway. I will make a special appointment at your preferred time to meet at one of these locations or others. Please see photo gallery button above.
Corporate and Personal Events and Family Reunions - Starting at $500 with Photo CD - Prints Optional - Not for Weddings
- Photography for family reunions, business events, etc.
- Included unlimited photography of the entire group as well as individuals, couples and families.
- High Resolution copyright free Photo CD of all images Included at no charge, prints and touchups extra.
- Posed as well as candid photography included.
- Online gallery can be accessed by all event participants to view and purchase prints.
- $500 for the first hour on location, $100 per additional hour. Includes copyright free Photo CD.
Grand Packages - Prints/Enlargements/Photo CD
These packages are in addition to the sitting fee. Sitting fee is paid up front, these can be chosen after seeing your proofs online.
- All Grand Packages include an enlargement.
- 20x30 enlargement can be traded for 2 additional sheets.
- All Grand Packages also include a free to copy and print CD will all images from your session.

This is something new I am offering. It's a fun book layout designed to be displayed at the reception for guest to sign and write in. It's a great way to display your engagement pictures as well as have treasured memories for after your wedding. Below is an example I designed for a recent client. By the way I'm obviously not a product photographer, the book looks a lot better in person, you can see it at my home office.
Reception Style Book
Below is another example of the same couple's engagement portraits in a simple and elegant 10x10 book design. Imagine the slides you see below as a two page spread as in the example book above, the first image is the front and back of the cover.
