Kiss in the Grass

My style of wedding photography in Myrtle Beach

Most importantly I love what I do and I try to offer the best personal service and amazing images. Most brides today are looking for a mix of photojournalist and traditional style photography, Myrtle Beach is the perfect place for this. I concentrate less on poses and more on capturing the perfect moments. While I will set up traditional formal portraits, I take hundreds of candid shots of the event as it happens, documenting the event and the emotions of the day. When I do pose a couple I concentrate on relaxed, candid and fun shots using the location well. I use modern photography techniques and top of the line Nikon equipment that I think you will appreciate when looking at my galleries.

Local Small Business Service . . .

Owning my own local Myrtle Beach photography business I'm able to offer a unique level of personal service. Because I work for myself and this is my full time job, I will go the extra mile to make my clients happy, the reputation of my business relies upon it. Ryan Smith Photography is a licensed and insured retail business with the state of SC, for full information about myself and this business click here.

My philosophy for a finished product . . .

I notice overly processed images on many photographer's websites, the more stylized and processed an image is, the more chance it will look dated in a few years. Instead of relying on Photoshop filters, mixing textures, vignettes and strange color effects, I prefer clear, crisp and clean color and black and white images that can only be done with Nikon's best lenses and a expert understanding of lighting and flash. However a reasonable amount of artistic and general touchup Photoshop work and special effects on all prints or albums sides included at no charge.

Here you can find my thoughts on some of my major events along with really large size pictures. A great place to stay up to date on my work, especially weddings.

Flickr is where I got started sharing my images, and I still use it extensively as the storage for many of the galleries you see on this site. You can make comments on all my latest images here.

See what I like around the net on Pinterest. Feel free to pin any pictures you like from this website!

I haven't figured out what to do with Google + yet, but you can visit my page here.

Note: To clear up possible confusion, I always print from and store the highest quality files, the digital copy resolution only effects what you will receive and make prints from yourself.

The Digital Copies are all the shots from your photo session or wedding that you see in your online gallery. The images will have been color corrected and look very nice but the only images that will receive specially requested Photoshop touchups (for example removing someone from the background) in their digital copy will be ones you've chosen also as prints or album selections.

How do you deliver the files to a client?
In most cases I use a Microsoft service called Skydrive. Skydrive gives me many advantages in delivering your images to you quickly and easily online without having to wait for a disc in the mail. You can even share the link I send you with other family so they can download them as well. After ordering you will receive instructions explaining the simple process in more detail.

What are the resolution options?

Please note depending on your browser you might not see a difference in the images until you click on them. Your cursor should turn into a magnifying glass so you can zoom in. These will open in a new browser tab.

Standard Digital Copies
At least 800x600 resolution suitable for small prints, maximum of 4x6 depending on printing service, pc and small digital photo frame viewing and e-mail.

800x600 Example

High Resolution Digital Copies
At least 1600x1200 resolution suitable for up to 8x10 prints as well as high resolution large photo frames.

1600x1200 Example

Full Resolution Digital Copies
Original full resolution files suitable for enlargement printing and any other use desired.

Full Resolution Example

You are allowed to print as many images from the digital files as you like, there is no copyright protection or watermarks.  I will provide a copyright release form on request, normally this is not required for printing except at Wal-Mart. Please see this page on Smugmug.com for very good information on required resolution for a desired print size.
